La Maison Remparts is located in the Cote d'Or region of Burgundy, France, in the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain.
The village is a 3 hour drive from Paris, or a 1 hour TGV (high-speed) train from the Gare de Lyon station in Paris. The TGV station is in Montbard, a 25 minute drive from Flavingy.
In town (2 minute walk) there is an “Epicerie” which sells bread, eggs, cheese, milk, wine, canned goods and gift items. The farm-to-table restaurant “La Grange” is open for lunch most days during the summer, and on Sundays the rest of the year, and the Abbaye Restaurant is open for lunches and dinners most days of the week during summer. There is a new establishment, Maison George, that is a small hotel with a bar that serves drinks and light food, and often has music during the summer. Also in town is the famed Anis de Flavigny candy store, with a new tearoom, where the little licorice candies in the beautiful tins are created in an ancient abbey--make sure you tour the candy factory!
A 10 minute drive takes you past the Flavigny Winery (tastings available) to the village of Veneray Les Laumes, with a large supermarket, a train station and many other shops and services. Twenty minutes away is the medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois, with it’s beautiful stone towers, lots of restaurants, and river.
The village is a hour from the Chablis and Champagne wine regions to the north, and to the south of Flavigny, a one hour drive gets you to Cote de Nuits, and Cote de Beaune, with wonderful wineries open for tasting (and buying!)
There is a train from Les Laumes (10 minutes away) that goes to the beautiful city of Dijon in a half hour, and from there, to anywhere you want to go! Dijon is about a 45-minute drive from Flavigny.
